Which electric cars are FBT exempt?

Battery electric and hydrogen cars priced below the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles ($91,661 for 2026-27) are currently exempt from FBT. From 1 April 2027 the full exemption is planned to apply only to eligible cars under $75,000. Plug-in hybrids no longer qualify for new leases. We will confirm whether the exact model you want is eligible before you sign. Read our guide to the 2027 changes.

Hybrids

Hybrids are not FBT exempt, but their lower fuel use still makes them a popular choice for high-kilometre fleet vehicles and for drivers who are not ready to go fully electric.
