Make the most of your salary packaging

Nurses, doctors, paramedics and other healthcare workers often have some of the best salary packaging available. Public and not-for-profit hospitals and ambulance services have an FBT exemption of up to $17,000 per employee, and charities and community health services can have up to $30,000. A novated lease can sit alongside your existing salary packaging and lower your tax even further.

Electric cars: an extra saving

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a novated lease as well as my hospital salary packaging?

Usually yes. A novated lease is one of the benefits you can package. A car may use part of your cap depending on your employer, but an eligible electric car is FBT exempt and does not.

What if I change hospitals?

If your new employer offers salary packaging, the novated lease can usually move with you. Otherwise you can pay the lease directly until you decide what to do.

Do you work with public hospital staff?

Yes, where the hospital allows employees to choose their novated lease provider. Some public health services use a set provider, so check with your payroll team.
