Short Term Lease – Learn More

Like other leasing options, short-term leases can be confusing. Par Leasing answers a few frequently asked questions about them.

1. What is it?

  • A short-term lease from Par Leasing is the rental of a vehicle over a short period, e.g. three months or over an extended period of about six months.
  • Lessees may consider short-term vehicle rental while they wait for their new contract hire vehicles to arrive. Those who are employers may want cars to let employees use during their probationary periods.

2. How long does a short-term lease last?

  • Short-term leases last anytime from a few weeks to a year. Drivers will have to return the vehicles after this time, with no liability.

3. How long does it take to lease a vehicle?

  • One of the benefits of short-term lease arrangements is that drivers can use vehicles immediately. They can usually drive them on the day they set up the lease. Once we have confirmed the lease arrangements, we will ask identification and drivers’ licenses.

A contract with Par Leasing will typically stipulate:

  • The minimum service contract duration
  • The selected vehicle
  • Start and end date of service
  • Fees
  • Monthly mileage allowance
  • Deposit
  • Other terms and conditions

4. What about additional costs?

  • Drivers will bear no additional costs as long as they do not exceed their mileage or damage the vehicles. However, they are liable for parking fines incurred during the time of the lease.

5. Is there excess vehicle insurance?

  • Par Leasing supplies vehicles on a self-insured basis. Drivers should check with their insurers for excess or restrictions on their vehicle insurance policies.

6. How Old Are Par Leasing’s Vehicles?

  • Par Leasing’s car fleets are less than 12 months old. We maintain them according to manufacturer’s recommendations and valet them before supplying them to drivers.

7. Does Par Leasing Charge for Cleaning?

  • Par Leasing valets vehicles so that drivers receive them in premium condition, but they are not liable for the charges.

8. What is a service agreement?

  • A service agreement is an arrangement made between drivers and Par Leasing. It should stipulate the criteria drivers want in their vehicles. The contract should also delineate financial stipulations.

9. Does Par Leasing Require A Deposit

  • Yes, we require drivers to pay deposits upon entering into service agreements with us. These will vary dependent on the individual vehicles selected. We will return the amounts in full if there is no damage to the cars.

10. Will Par Leasing Need To Verify Driving Licences?

  • Yes, we will need to verify driving licenses. Their details will be in the service agreements. Showing it is unnecessary if there is vehicle insurance.

11. What identification do we require?

  • Par Leasing requires a driver’s license and another form of identification. It can be a credit card or bank statement. They should be within three months of the date of commencement of the service agreement.

12. Why should drivers select the right monthly mileage allowance?

  • Par Leasing will ask drivers to select the correct monthly allowance as they will have to pay for the excess mileage they use. The amount, which is in the contract, varies depending on the vehicle a driver chooses. We calculate excess miles by multiplying the number of days a driver rents a car by the mileage allowance.
